look up Four-Year Colleges -- 2010: More Than 2,500 Colleges in the United States, Canada, and Abroad by the Peterson's company.  There's a good chance that it's thicker than Stephen King's thickest novel (but, since I don't know which one that is and I'm too worn out to look it up right now, I couldn't tell you the title -- if someone does have a care to look it up, let me know, merci).

The point is, Mom, Dad and I have been looking through that book all afternoon, and I'm beginning to fear it's given Mom and me a complex.  It's hard and stressful work, deciding on a college.  Especially when you have to do it, like, this weekend.  I'd like to stay in Ohio, to be near home, but I'd also like to study in California, because of the atmosphere and because I have relatives there (even though I barely know them, Dad said that would still be good for me -- he said that his cousin Eric could beat up anyone who messes with me [lol]).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be majoring in French, though I'm not sure what type of career I'd like to lead with that.  I don't think I could command the attention of a room full of high school kids, much less university students, but I don't know how I'd do as an interpreter, either.  Of course, I still have loads of learning to do before I become fluent in the language, so we'll have to see.  I love French class so much, it's not funny.  I think about it all the time, practicing French in my head when I walk home from school (in the mornings, walking to school, I'm too tired to think, lol).  And I actually love doing the homework for that class.  I've never had that with any class before, so you can tell it means a lot to me.

Of course, I still aspire to be a famous author, but this way I'll have a steady income.  I need to get writing again, I can sense that you few fans who've followed me thus far are getting restless.  Thanks for all your support.

I'm so fucking tired right now.  My eyes hurt.  Hopefully this long weekend will be restful.

Anyways, enough about my boring life.  How's everybody doing?  I know it's earlier-on in your high school career for some of you, but have you decided what you want to do for a living yet?

I saw Pet Sematary for the first time last night, and it was awesome.  In my opinion it's the best film adaption of a Stephen King book I've seen.  I'm sure those of you who've seen it recognized King as the minister at the funeral, right?  I had suspicions, then I double-checked by reading through the end credits when the film was over.  Pet Sematary is high on my list of favorite S.K. books, and I highly recommend it and the 1989 adaption, though I would suggest reading the novel sometime before you see the movie so you can have a better appreciation for the story.

Now I have the song from the end credits, "Pet Sematary" by the Ramones, stuck in my head.:iconheaddeskplz:

So.  Batman: Arkham Reborn.  I bought it over the weekend, and read it in less than two hours.  Jeremiah Arkham is an awesome character, and the introduction to new "inmates" was interesting and well-done.:batman:

Have any of you guys ever played American McGee's Alice, that creepy PC game take on Alice in Wonderland?  I read about the sequel that's due to come out like next year, and the games sound really intriguing -- exactly like the dark psychological stuff I'm into.

It's been cold here the past few days; I've actually had to wear jeans and long-sleeved blouses again.  And my Letterman's jacket -- inside the house (I get cold really easily).  Fall's coming!  I'm sick of summer heat.  How's the weather at your end?

P.S. The expression on the blue emote in the "horror" mood looks exactly like Gage's in that one scene (if you've watched Pet Sematary you'll know exactly what I'm talking about).

I don't think I really noticed how annoying and bumbling freshman are until today (well, I guess I was more observant of it, anyway).

Here's my schedule for the first semester:

1. French 4
2. Study Hall
3. American Government
4. Study Hall
5. Honors English 12
6. Speech
7. Chemistry

We didn't do much in my classes - the teachers went over their rules and procedures for their classes, and we got a bunch of forms to bring home for our parents to sign (a.k.a. homework for my mother).

American Government/Economics is a class for seniors that's required to graduate, otherwise I probably wouldn't have taken it, because I've always disliked my history classes. But it doesn't look like it'll be too bad. At least I'll be able to skip the politics lectures from Dad because I'll already know what's going on. :iconheaddeskplz:

I didn't get much sleep last night. I never do the night before the first day of school. I kept waking up at odd hours.

Tired and stressed. Hugs will be greatly appreciated and reciprocated.

~  ~  ~

EDIT:

To make a long story short, myself and my fellow French 4 students have to take French 4 second period instead of first because of overcrowding in some classes, and also the Spanish teacher will be teaching us our French because he's qualified to speak it (though at least he does it without a Spanish accent, like some jokes implied, lol). It will take some adjusting, but I'm sure he'll be a good teacher.

So now first period I'm taking Senior Seminar (and Sociology second semester), and now I'm taking all the classes I wanted to (for once)!

Okay, so it wasn't really a major edit in regards to length, but it's a major transition for me because I've been studying French under one person for three years and now I have to be under someone else's tutelage. It'll be an adjustment, but I'll make it.

a week from Tuesday (tomorrow). I'm nervous.

My new glasses came in on Thursday! They're brown wire, rimless on the bottom and part of the sides, like Crane's. I've been wanting to try partially-rimless glasses for a while. I like them. My prescription's the same as it's been for two years, but I was allowed to get new glasses this year because I'd had the previous pair for two years. Some change is good.

Lucy, I'm home!

2 min read
For all those wondering, we got back late Monday evening (left July 17th), and I had a lovely trip overall. The drives there and back weren't really enjoyable (I'm not used to being cooped up in a crowded van for that long - I need room to pace and just think), but at least I wasn't bored until two days of travel back to Ohio left to go when I ran out of reading materials (speaking of those, I finally finished all the Harry Potter books - took me four weeks, but I did it).

Disneyland was epic, of course. My favorite rides were Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye (a newer ride that only opened I think a few months ago), and Big Thunder Mountain. The Matterhorn was okay, although I didn't like Space Mountain - it was pitch black in there, way too dark for me. Becca (the sister who's three) loved meeting all the princesses, and the Dumbo ride. Justin and Melissa loved Star Tours the best (they're so into Star Wars, you have no idea).

Due to some sort of illness or other, my Dad's dad's right leg had to be amputated a couple of years ago, up to mid-thigh, though by now he gets around okay, though he's in a wheelchair most of the time, of course. He was really happy to see us, because he never gets to see us because we live so far apart.

The bugs in California are huge, especially the beetles. I saw a couple that were at least two inches long.:fear:

Oh, and on July 16th, the Friday before we left, I got to go and see Inception! All I'll say is that the hype is well worth it - it was an awesome film. All the stuff about dreams was well thought-out, and it's a movie that makes you really think. GO SEE IT!

And... I think that's about it. This entry turned out a lot shorter than I anticipated. How has everyone been doing?
